In Pennsylvania, inmates can be sentenced to serve their time in either a county jail or a state prison. PA SAVIN is an innovative, free, confidential and automated service that helps victims, their friends and/or family along with any concerned citizen track the status of an offender, housed in a COUNTY jail within the Commonwealth. PA SAVIN will allow Pennsylvania residents to receive real-time information about an offender’s custody status, such as an inmate’s release, transfer or escape.
To be notified when a particular inmate is released, transferred or escapes from a COUNTY jail, please call toll-free 1-866-9PA-SAVIN or register online. To be notified when a particular inmate is released, transferred or escapes from a STATE prison, please register online. If you do not know if the particular inmate is in a COUNTY jail or STATE prison, please contact the local Victim Assistance Program in your county for help in locating the inmate. (Elk or Cameron)
If your offender is transferred to a mental health care facility, please know you will need to register with the Department of Public Welfare. If you choose to enroll in the program, you must complete an enrollment form and mail it to the hospital where the offender has been admitted. An enrollment form and other important information is available through the Department of Public Welfare’s Website.
