CAPSEA Emergency Shelter Manager Posting

Position: Shelter Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary Range: $32,000

Reports To: Direct Services Supervisor

CAPSEA is looking for a Shelter Manager.  This individual will also work directly with domestic violence/sexual assault victims who are guests in our emergency shelter.  If you like working with people, are compassionate, enjoy teaching independent living skills and can provide 100% confidential services to our guests, we encourage you to apply!

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Shelter Staff
    • Schedule Shelter Staff to ensure proper Shelter coverage and meet client’s needs
    • Develop/update checklists of daily, weekly, monthly, and reoccurring shelter staff duties
    • Assign specific Shelter or Donation Center tasks as needed
    • Communicate with the Direct Services Supervisor and provide case status updates.
    • Communicate with Shelter Staff/Housing Staff/direct services staff and provide case status updates. 
    • Attend Staff/Case Management/Supervision Meetings and disseminate relevant information.
  • Assist with Shelter Staff duties as needed to ensure the proper functioning of Shelter
  • Check in with Shelter Residents regularly for a status update
  • Deal with problems that arise with Shelter Residents and/or Shelter Staff as needed, and keep the Direct Services Supervisor/Executive Director informed of relevant issues
  • Review camera feed as needed and conduct daily security checks. 
  • Advise on current shelter status with regards to possible shelter intake
  • Verify shelter intake paperwork is completed
  • Verify shelter discharge tasks are completed
  • Maintain shelter structure, equipment, and furniture to the best of abilities and bring attention to problems requiring outside or professional assistance
  • Inventory and organize supplies and inform the appropriate person(s) if specific supplies need to be purchased
  • Provide input on CAPSEA donation “Wish List” as needed
  • Respond to CAPSEA website inquiries regarding donations
  • Complete 10 additional training hours per year.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in human services preferred
  • Must be familiar with “trauma-informed services” and all services provided by CAPSEA, Inc.
  • Must maintain a nonjudgmental attitude when working with all CAPSEA clients, guests, and staff
  • Must be able to handle emergency situations
  • Must be reliable, able to work independently, and work closely with a team
  • Must be able to manage and oversee the operations of a team of staff
  • Must be willing and able to work non traditional hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and be on call if necessary
  • Must be able to create a schedule
  • Must successfully complete CAPSEA, Inc.’s mandatory 80+ hours of training in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
  • Must possess a valid PA driver’s license, access to an insured vehicle, and willingness to transport victims while on duty if necessary
  • Must obtain Act 33 and Act 34, and FBI clearances
  • Must be capable of lifting/moving in excess of 20 pounds
